Sustainable Indigenous Solutions
Sustainable Indigenous Solutions (SIS) is an innovative non-profit organization that seeks to provide one-of-a-kind customized solutions that integrate traditional knowledge and modern practices to foster self-reliance and create lasting change for future generations.
Our Vision
SIS envisions empowered, healthy, and thriving communities where Elder mentorship, reciprocity, and traditional healing are the pillars that uplift our generations to come. Through
cross-sector collaborations, on- and off-reservation, we seek to deliver tangible value, foster health and wellbeing, promote social growth and economic development, and support holistic, sustainable, and community-led transformation.
Our Mission
At SIS, our mission is to deliver transformational value through traditional community-led programs. We are dedicated to assisting communities, organizations, and other partners in accessing and implementing key resources while providing them with the insights and tools necessary to overcome challenges and embrace opportunities. We are committed to preserving indigenous heritage, fostering connection with Elders and traditional knowledge, and creating holistic community-tailored solutions for a prosperous future.
"We believe in providing tailored solutions that are friendly to the earth, animals, land, and the next seven generations."

The Seven Grandfather Teachings
This video clip describes the Seven Teachings and their importance.
Program Activites & Services
With a foundation in Northern Canadian communities and a commitment to breaking cycles of dependency on external resources, SIS strives to create enduring positive change while promoting multi-sector collaboration through community-led initiatives to deliver holistic growth and land-based healing.
Gamikaan Bimaadiziwin
Gamikaan Bimaadiziwin – “I will find my life again” in Ojibway – is a new transformative restoration camp on the shores of Bug Lake, ON. Located in the traditional land-use areas of Naotkamegwanning, Northwest Angle #33, Animakee Wa Zhing 37, and Wauzhushk Onigum, GB serves as a multi-sector, multi-community education and healing space that transcends nation as part of reconciliation.
Youth Mentorship Progam
The Youth Mentorship Program – which will be given an Ojibwe name through ceremony – is a transformative initiative designed to address the pressing needs of children who are often deprived of developmental and career necessities. Sadly, children and young people - especially in Ontario’s rural Indigenous communities – are grappling with the fallout of centuries of systemic issues.
Program Partners
SIS presently benefits from strong collaborations with key organizations including GCT#3, Treaty #3 Police, Kenora District Services Board, OPP, and the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources & Forestry (MNDMNRF), as well as
Naotkamegwanning, Northwest Angle #33, Animakee Wa Zhing 37, and Wauzhushk Onigum, Elders, and community leaders in the Kenora region.
